EUROPLANT Germany
Great success for the Annalena variety!
At the annual potato Potato Festival "Dary Lata barwy jesieni" in Przysiek (Poland), the potato variety Annalena got first place for the tastiest variety.
“This shows again that the quality of the potato is very a important criterion for the customer!” states a happy Krysztof Korolewicz, CEO of EUROPLANT trade Ziemniakami.
The German EUROPLANT is one of the largest European cultivating companies based in Poland, with 1,122 hectares for potato propagation and a wide range of registered varieties. In total 36 varieties of the EUROPLANT range are propagated in Poland. The main variety is Vineta, propagated on 447 hectares. However, potato farmers and seed traders are increasingly interested in other quality potatoes (Jelly 68 hectares; Marabel 27 hectares; Red Sonia 29 hectares), processing potatoes for chips (Omega 75 hectares) and starch potatoes (Eurogrande 31 hectares; Eurostarch 32 hectares and Zuzanna 145 hectares).
The potato variety Annalena is in the launch phase and is being tested by packaging companies and via direct sales. “We are certain that we can convince more customers to cultivate more of our varieties based on the quality, resistance and performance!” states Korolewicz, he is sure that the positive developments of the previous years can be continued.
