Organics Unlimited, an organic banana grower and importer with distribution throughout the Pacific Northwest, announces new advertising with TriMet, the Portland, Ore.-regional transit system. The eight-week advertising campaign coincides with GROW month, a 30-day initiative aimed at creating more consumer awareness of organic bananas, healthy lifestyles and GROW’s social responsibility programs.
Launched this month, the GROW ads can be spotted on 18 different buses throughout selected transit routes of TriMet. The ads feature GROW’s signature orange color and convey core messages of the brand, including:
- Sustainability is the fruit of healthy communities
- The most responsible banana you will ever meet
- Eco-friendly organic bananas from our eco-family
“During GROW month, we hope consumers spot the buses, use the hashtag #GROWmonth and learn more about the positive impact their banana purchases are making,” said Mayra Velazquez de Leon, president of Organics Unlimited and GROW. “We want consumers to recognize that by buying our organic bananas, they really are helping to change lives.”
Since 2005, through retailer and distributor support, GROW organic banana purchases have provided over $2 million in aid for underserved communities. A percentage derived from the purchase of each box of GROW organic bananas is earmarked for the GROW fund. Donations are used for youth educational scholarships and dental and vision care in Mexico, clean water programs in Ecuador, clean air initiatives in the San Diego-Tijuana region and more.
GROW organic bananas can be found at Portland area grocery stores including New Seasons Market, Alberta Co-op Grocery, Food Front Cooperative Grocery and more. Northwest-based organic distributor and longtime GROW supporter, Organically Grown Company (OGC), recently announced the donation of $1 million to the GROW program through 10 years of sales.
Consumers can still participate in GROW month throughout September and raise awareness of the program’s humanitarian work by purchasing GROW organic bananas and sharing the hashtag #GROWmonth on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. People will also see outdoor advertising that promotes GROW organic bananas in select U.S. cities.
