Tackling the impact of climate change

Codiagro to present new product line

The Spanish company Codiagro will be exhibiting again at the next edition of FRUIT ATTRACTION, one of the key fairs in our industry worldwide. This will be the 5th consecutive year they have taken part with their own stand. Codiagro will be in Hall 4, Stand 4G07A. The fair will take place in Madrid from 5 to 7 October.

In this edition, the firm will present its new line of products, specially developed to help producers tackle the adverse effects of climate change on their crops.

"Agriculture is extremely vulnerable to climate change. The overall increase in temperatures worldwide is reducing the crop production; therefore, we consider it essential to focus our efforts on this line of research and, as a result, we have obtained some new formulations that sustainably improve the crops' tolerance to these changes," points out Antonio Andreu, chemistry graduate and marketing director of the Castellon-based firm.

One of the most noteworthy new products is CODIORGAN-GLB, exclusively for use with roots. It is based on a balanced combination of osmoprotector amino acids, combined in a highly concentrated formulation which has achieved very good results in preventing physiological disorders caused by abiotic stress.

Another product to be presented is HIDROSTRESS-40, based on natural betaine and combined with other osmo compounds that improve its ability to protect the cells against abiotic stress (temperature, humidity, salinity, phytotoxicity, etc.). HIDROSTRESS is recommended for foliar use because of its special liquid formulation that improves foliar absorption kinetics. The product prevents the abortion of flowers in horticultural products or cracking in horticultural products, fruits and vine, in addition to speeding up the colouring of the fruit.

It is worth noting that Codiagro is no neophyte in the matter, since it was the pioneer in the study of plant stress in partnership with the University of Castellón and patented the "AMEC molecule", a naturally occurring organic compound that revolutionised molecular bio stimulation intended to get crops to tap their full genetic potential.
