International photo report Macfrut

The Italian fresh produce and machinery fair Macfrut, is still growing: the number of visitors exceeded 38,000 last week. That is a nine per cent increase compared with last year. Foreign interest has also grown. Exhibitors expressed their satisfaction with the number and quality of the visitors. The next edition of Macfrut will take place from 10 to 12 May, 2017. Strawberries will then be the central product.

We made an international photo report of the non-Italian exhibitors. According to figures, over 20 per cent of the exhibitors came from abroad. They came from all over the world, from Sudan to Costa Rica. We also came across various nice presentations and packagings, which can be seen in the photo report.

Peru: growing interest in Italy
Peru was this year’s partner country of Macfrut. Compared with last year, Peru had a larger booth, and more exporters were present. Important Peruvian products are artichokes and asparagus, but Peru also cultivates other products, such as bananas, avocados, grapes and citrus. A growing interest in the Italian market exists, which was confirmed by the presence of exporters as well. In the last five years, there has been an average increase of 15 per cent in trade from Peru to Italy.
