Argentina: US company to plant 200 hectares of pistachio in San Juan

Maricopa Orchards, an American company from California that currently has 65 hectares devoted to pistachio crops in San Juan, intends to make an important investment and expand its productive fields by planting 200 hectares more of pistachio.

Company executives met with the Minister of Production to inform him of their intention to expand their local production.

This year the company had its first harvest in San Juan and was very satisfied with it. The weather in San Juan is similar to that of California, however the winter in that part of the northern hemisphere was not cold enough so the company obtained its best pistachios from San Juan.

The pistachio plants in the 200 hectares would only come into production 5 years after being planted.
