China: Early citrus fruit in high demand

In the last few days, citrus fruits have gradually started to go on sale and prices are rather high at this point. The citrus fruits harvested now are varieties that ripen very early. As for quality, due to big variations in rainfall recently, this year's citrus fruits are smaller but look glossy, have a smooth surface and their average weight and taste are not bad at all.

The prices are slightly lower than last year, but this is a 'big year' for citrus fruits. The overall production volume has increased by 50%. Because the extra early oranges are produced in small volumes and come to the market early in the season, they are more expensive than early or normal citrus fruits.

Feedback from the market indicates the extra early citrus fruits are in great demand. But the small production volume means they sell out very quickly, they are only available for 20 days, and cannot meet demand in the current market situation.
