First Spanish plums enter China

In the past few days, 2318 cases of Spanish plums, with a total weight of 20.86 tons, sent from the port of Algeciras reached the shores of Shanghai. This is the first batch of Spanish plums transported to China since the Quality Inspection Main Bureau, on May 18. officially issued the "letter of product inspection and quarantine demands of the Quality Inspection Main Bureau concerning the import of Spanish fresh plums and peaches".

It was reported that the Quality Inspection Main Bureau, had reached a decision, after analysing the risk of biological harm, to allow the transport of Spanish fresh plums and peaches to China. This was after The Main Bureau and the Spanish Department of Agriculture, Food and Environment reached an agreement on the demands of the Chinese Vegetation Inspection and Quarantine Bureau concerning the transport of Spanish plums to China. The "treaty concerning the demands of vegetation inspection and quarantine for Spanish fresh plums and peaches into China" has now been signed.
