AU: Good start for NSW blueberries

Growing conditions in New South Wales, Australia have been good for blueberries this season according to exporter A B Gartrell. The company are now commencing the Australian air freight blueberry season with thesupply of export quality blueberries which is building quickly.

"Growing conditions on the north coast of NSW have been quite good with a noticeable compaction harvest timing of many varieties likely in the period September to November," explained Andrew Gartrell.

"Our blueberry producers are picking, packing and shipping within a 24 hour time frame, ensuring the very freshest and best quality blueberries are available for our clients selection."

A B Gartrell is providing market representation services and brokerage services to leading USA, Australian, South African, Moroccan, Chinese and Egyptian fruit producers by assisting these shippers directly to access key fresh produce importers and supermarket buyers across the Far East.

Realising the obvious potential of fresh produce exports to the region A B Gartrell initially started exporting their own cherry production from family farms located in mainland Australia in the 1990’s. Over the past 5 years the company has expanded its product range to include apples and pears, a full range of citrus, all varieties of stonefruits, blueberries and table grapes amongst a broad range of horticultural products from leading international producers.

"To better support our customers’ needs we opened a Far East sales office in the Philippines in 2013. The Philippines is a cost effective base and great central location to operate a fresh produce sales desk" said Andrew. "Our office is located 10 minutes from the international airport at Clark where we can for instance, quickly access a 1.5 hour flight to Hong Kong to visit the marketplace, allowing us to visit our customers on a regular basis observing market trends and providing real time out turn reports."
