30 years of successful cooperation between Alnatura and Bioland

For 30 years Alnatura and Bioland have been successfully working together. Their goal is to expand and to develop organic farming and organic food production in Germany. The partnership offers Bioland farmers and producers an increased security in marketing due to the long-term planning and it offers the customers an increased number of Alnatura products with organic quality. Currently 121 Alnatura products are Bioland certified and the certification of other products is being prepared. Against this background Germany's most popular food brand and the most important organic farmers' association have decided to continue and enhance their long-term partnership.

Alnatura and Bioland are already involved in several long-term initiatives. For instance the Alnatura organic farmers initiative: the initiative supports conventional farmers who want to convert to organic farming. At the moment the demand for organic food is increasing faster than the surfaces used for organic farming. Not enough farmers are converting to organic farming, and therefore more organic products have to be imported. At the same time Alnatura customers increasingly desire regional products. This is why Alnatura launched the Alnatura organic farmers initiative in 2015. One condition for the financial support for farmers is their membership to an organic farmers association such as Bioland. Of the 25 new organic farms, with a total of 3,600 hectares, about half works according to the strict Bioland criteria.

Robert Poschacher, in charge of product management, states about the cooperation with Bioland: “In an economical and agricultural world where waste is standard we want to strengthen organic farming and to continue the cooperation with partners such as Bioland. We give organic farmers the necessary marketing possibilities and we contribute to the preservation of good soils and biodiversity through our joint initiatives with Bioland.”

Jan Plagge, President of Bioland, emphasizes: “In order to promote organic farming in Germany, farmers first and foremost need a reliable partner for the sales of their products to the consumer. This gives farmers the opportunity to invest in import areas such as biodiversity, water and climate.

Organic farmers, producers and manufacturers have in Alnatura a partner who offers reliability, and not someone who is constantly looking for the cheapest producer. Bioland has a chance to develop these values together with Alnatura in the growing organic trade.”
