“I’m not complaining at the moment, but in general the mushrooms market is on a low level, it has been for years. I do not expect improvement. We invested in new packaging a few years ago, to distinguish ourselves from the traditional blue packaging, but it did not bring us the sales that we had hoped. We also offer organic mushrooms, but the demand is disappointing. Limburg is not ready for that, apparently,” concludes Danny.
Are there any possibilities for presenting mushrooms with a different use on the market? “It is not easy. If you know anything, please tell me. I definitely think that most Dutch people do not know what the uses for mushrooms are. I believe that it could be used more in lunches. They are just as easy to fry as eggs and just as tasty. The mushrooms could serve more as a meat substitute, which might make the meal even more delicious. On the other hand, we should not exaggerate. Once, someone got me a book about desserts with mushrooms. I do like desserts and I do like mushrooms, but I do not think you should combine them…”
