Ukrainian growers unable to sell peaches at high prices

Ukrainian growers have been finishing their peach season, according to Fruit-Inform, with the majority of them unsatisfied with the campaign’s results.

Peach production has significantly suffered from spring frosts this year. Despite a slight year-on-year increase, production was one of the lowest over the past few years. However, growers were unable to count on high prices: they are now shipping their remaining quantities at UAH 12-18/kg (EUR 0.42-0.64/kg), a decrease of 8-10% year-on-year.

Such a price situation is connected with rather high competition with less expensive Moldovan produce in the Ukrainian market.
