C.G. Timmermans & Zn. taken over by Frupaks-Vernooij

As of 1 September 2016, the activities of fruit company C.G. Timmermans will be taken over by Vleuten-based Frupaks-Vernooij B.V. Both companies are active in the topfruit sector. The companies need to consolidate in order to become large enough to remain profitable in the future. This transaction anticipates developments in the sector, which is under severe pressure due to the Russian boycott of Dutch fruit.

The current board at Timmermans has decided to sell the company because its members have reached retirement age and no one else is able to take over operations. The company believes Frupaks-Vernooij, which is part of the Staay Food Group, is a strong partner and expects the increase in scale to lead to a promising future.

For the time being, Timmermans will continue to operate under the same name and with the same people, but under the board of Frupaks- Vernooij.

The merger will result in a very attractive Frupaks-Vernooij/Timmermans partnership. The main benefits of this merger can be attributed to a better distribution of customers and improved turnover/costs ratio.
