Citrus consumption continues to increase in Sweden
Between 1990 to 2005, the per capita consumption of citrus in Sweden was at a stable level of 14.5 to 15 kg per person, this has now increased to 18.2 kg per person. Western Europe also saw an increase during the same period (1990-2005) from 19 to around 24 kg.
Oranges and easy peelers are leading consumption with oranges at 9 kg and easy peelers at 6 kg, followed by lemon/lime 2.4 kg and Grapefruit at 0.8 kg.
