NZ: Hort statistics resource goes mobile

Fresh Facts, the annual statistics resource for the horticulture industry, is now available as an app for mobile devices.

The app and newly launched website tool feature the ability to create graphs from the export and growing data of more than 20 crops and crop groupings published in Fresh Facts over the past 17 years.

The app can be downloaded from the Apple App Store, for Android devices from Google Play, or via the www.freshfacts.co.nz website.

The value of New Zealand’s horticultural outputs exceeded $7.5 billion for the first time in the year to 30 June 2015, with export sales of more than $4.2 billion. Key earners for the sector include wine ($1.4 billion exports), kiwifruit ($1.2 billion) and apples ($561 million).

The Fresh Facts app was developed in conjunction with a team of four final year students from the Bachelor of Computer and Information Sciences at AUT. Fresh Facts has been published annually since 1999 by Plant & Food Research, in association with Horticulture New Zealand, and is compiled by Martech Consulting Group.

Plant & Food Research will be at Asia Fruit Logistica Hall 3c O-01
