Car to promote organic Juliet

Organic apple distributor sees growth in demand

Juliet apple, majorly grown in France, is consumed worldwide and exported to destinations such as Europe, Asia, Canada, Dubai, Thailand, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Taiwan, Vietnam, Singapore and Indonesia. Juliet is the only apple in the world produced exclusively through organic farming. This year, the production of Juliet apple stands at 8,500 tonnes and this is expected to rise to 11,000 tonnes by 2018.

Currently, over 110 producers grow the Juliet apple on approximately 350 hectares and this will increase to 470 hectares by the year 2020 according to the association “Les Amis de Juliet®, the pioneers of the Juliet apple in France.

New car
Cardell Export, the apple distributor for Juliet, is branding a car to market the Juliet organic apple. According to Daniel Corbell of Cardell Export, the branded car will help introduce Juliet to consumers. “We already have a truck which we use for deliveries so we intend to use the branded car purposely for marketing Juliet to the consumers through promotions at stores and trade shows, we are simply readying to grab any opportunity presented to us to market Juliet,” explains Corbell.

“Apart from being naturally resistant to scab and oidium (the main diseases affecting apple trees), Juliet apples are crunchy and juicy. The other aspect that has made it a favourite among many consumers is its mild sweet taste and the fact that it can be preserved for a long time.”
