The inspection and quarantine bureau of Qingdao in Shandong buried a batch of Philippine import bananas that didn't meet the import standards. The batch counted 1556 cases, with a total weight of 21,006 tons. The value of the batch was 21683 USD. During the inspection of the bananas by the inspection and quarantine bureau, mealybugs were found. Tests in the laboratory showed that the bugs were the harmful Dysmicoccus Neobrevipes (Bearsley).
The Dysmicoccus Neobrevipes are listed as harmful organisms to be quarantined. If they were to spread within the Chinese borders, they could badly harm the Chinese fruits, vegetables, flowers and plants.
