DA Meter on an apple
"We must say the Italian technology sector grew on an international level also thanks to Macfruit. The fair is an important occasion to meet operators from all over the world. Organisers work really hard and the location is perfect."
Turoni is optimistic as regards this new tool, which will be launched during the fair (14-16 September 2016, hall B3, stand 1).
In the photo: the new tool which will be launched at Macfrut
It is a portable tool ideal for the post-harvesting phase. It analyses the firmness of the flesh, thus providing information as regards the ripening stage. It is non-invasive and does not damage the peel. It can also be used in the pre-harvesting stage.
"Of course our whole range will be on display at the fair, starting with the DA-Meter, a non-invasive tool establishing the ripening stage of the fruit."
Usually, it is also used by big and well-structured companies to decide when to harvest and avoid surprises once the fruit is harvested. The tool has been created by a team supervised by professor Guglielmo Costa from the University of Bologna. It works by measuring the chlorophyll level in the fruit. This parameter is not influenced by the weather like other parameters like, for example, the sugar level.
