Not all doom and gloom for Serbian fruit supplier

Hail the size of golf balls over the last few weeks in Serbia has led to almost a total loss for apricots and also ruined the last few weeks of the cherry season. In order to prevent this happening in the future, large investments are being made in Serbia , to modernise farming, such as hail nets, to get the methods up to EU standards.

However, it is not all doom and gloom for Ritopek Cherries, which was recently awarded "Royal appointment" status by HRH crown prince Alexander.

"The Royal warrant is the only I know to be awarded to a fruit supplier, and strengthens our brand further as the Royal warrant will now appear on all our packaging. This now opens up the top end market of those wanting the best quality fruit that money can buy for there customers," shared CEO Jonathan Robinson.

"Throughout the industry there are always the consumers that are willing to spend that little more for guaranteed quality. At Ritopek Cherries we are keeping prices the same, while delivering a premium product. This has been recognised by several customers who are increasing their orders for our seasonal fruits such as pears and nectarines. We are also seeing pre orders on apples, from customers who enjoyed our automatic sorting machine service last year. Our automated sizing machine guarantees the apple sizes, allowing us to export constant quality."

The company has also developed a new "Premium range" for the Delhaize group which hit the shelves this week throughout Serbia. The new range includes berries, pears, apples and plums, all hand picked and individually packed and inspected three times. The premium "ready to eat" range are single, double or triple packed fruits, aimed at those consumers who want a snack or "eat it now" experience. The fruits are hand selected for ripeness to give the fast shopper a pre checked comfort that they are buying first class quality and that the fruit is in perfect condition.
