Christel de Roock, Teughels:

"First ready to eat French nectarines"

Supplying ready to eat products has increased in recent years. Besides exotics, more and more 'normal' fruit is being supplied RTE, so that the consumer can immediately eat the product after purchasing it in the supermarket. As of recently, Teughels from Brussels is offering nectarines of the brand Bayard, ready to eat.

Four in a clam shell

"One of the customers, a retailer, was looking for RTE nectarines," says Christel de Roock. "Our supplier Bayard played into this and the first volumes were supplied this week. The products are packaged in fours in a clam shell and weigh 100 grams a piece. The size is smaller than the 'normal' nectarines we supply. The supermarket expects it to be a hit and is supplying more and more products ready to eat. There is apparently a growing audience."

Teughels has been supplying stone fruit of the French brand Bayard for years. They market nectarines, peaches and apricots under this brand. They are mainly sold at a Belgian supermarket chain and the better shopkeepers.
