For salads, herbs, veg and fresh-cut products

Kronen announces new features for GEWA washing machine

Kronen engineers have developed a new and highly sophisticated GEWA washing machine in collaboration with the specialists from the system partner sterilAir (CH-Weinfelden) according to customer-specific requirements.

With this innovative Kronen GEWA washing line, salads and herbs, vegetables and fresh-cut products are washed thoroughly and carefully in a continuous flow process (without mechanical immersion) with UVC treated water. The machine is equipped with a number of modules and features:

  • The UVC reactor is integrated into the pipe system, while the GEWA washing performance remains constant. The UVC reactor serves in particular the prevention of cross-contamination, ensures higher process reliability and allows a reduction in the amount of water used.
  • CIP-cleaning: Another big benefit is the re-use of the cleaning water which can be drained separately and collected. The CIP system can be cleaned without changing the connection cables saving time and money. Due to the additional discharge less cleaning water is required (250 liters less water per load). For cleaning the pipes of the internal water cycle, Kronen offers a powerful alkaline concentrate with excellent universal cleansing power.
  • The shower curtain has an additional advantage, thus the product is rinsed in addition with treated water. Fresh water showers are mounted above the discharge section with which the product can also be showered. This can serve as a further washing step, or reduce or remove other washing additives. On the other hand, rinsing with fresh water can be used just as an additional rinse.
  •  Heat exchangers have been integrated in the filter tank, therefore the water can be cooled constantly to the desired water temperature.

Further features:

  •  Insect drum with various perforations (drum: square hole diameter 10 mm, standard version is supplied with round hole diameter 5 mm) In combination with the integrated gas pressure spring the drum can easily be lifted out of the washing tank.
  •  The washed salad products are carried smoothly and gently by an innovative outfeed belt system 17° (equipped with a suction fan and air blower system) for further drying and processing.
  •  And many more features…
