Weather delaying Central California table grape season

“High temperatures the last week of June and first week of July made getting a full day's work impossible. This caused a stutter start to our summer programs,” explained Louie Galvan of Fruit Royale, based out of Delano, California.

Fruit Royale specializes in over a dozen varieties of red, green, black seedless grapes and red seeded grapes, and while summertime demand for the popular fruit remains excellent, supplies are just starting to improve.

“Supplies are slowly increasing this week through next,” said Galvan, who also detailed the varieties they have coming off the vine.

“Currently we have Flame, Sugraone, Summer Royale and hope to start Red Globe this week.” Pricing, according to Galvan, is very good.

“Most pricing across the board is in the $20.00-22.00 range per 19-pound carton.”
