Spain: Prices of long shelf-life tomatoes are the worst in ten years

According Hortoinfo and based on data from the Observatory of Prices and Markets Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Rural Development of the Government of Andalusia, long shelf-life tomato prices this campaign were as bad as the prices obtained in the 2010/2011 campaign, which makes them the worst of the last ten seasons. Taking into account that they are part of the I category, the average price for this type of tomato in the 2015/2016 season was 0.44 euro per kilo, i.e. 16.98 percent less than in the previous season.

It has also been the worst season for ribbed tomato, as they had an average price of 0.86 € / kilo, i.e. 10.42 percent less than in the 2014/2015 campaign.

The average price for smooth tomatoes was 0.44 euro per kilo, 21.43 percent less than in the previous season.

The pear tomato, which is also part of the first category, had an average price of 0.46 euro / kilo, a very similar to its 0.47 € / kilo average price in the previous season.

The average price of the tomato for industry was 0.55 euro per kilo, 8.33 percent less than in the previous season.

Meanwhile, the average price of cherry tomatoes this season was 0.98 euros per kilo, 2% less than in the previous season.
