Don Limon opens new Rotterdam office

Already a German packer and shipper of South American fruit, Don Limon is branching out into the rest of Europe with a new office in Rotterdam. The office, with its proximity to Europe's largest port, will bring Don Limon closer to more European markets and give the company better control over every step of the supply chain.

Kemal, the first manager of Don Limón Holland B.V.

“In the past we really established Don Limon as a producer, packer and shipper in overseas markets,” explained Don Limon's CEO, Andreas Schindler. “We control our processes very well until it gets to the port of Rotterdam. Now we realize we can much better control the process, from unloading the container from the ship to delivering the goods in the warehouse of our customer.”

The office also brings the company closer to the rest of Europe. In addition to benefits of the port, which include repacking capabilities, special quality control and sophisticated troubleshooting, Schindler believes Dutch importers have always been at the forefront of global trade, and being close to that culture will be beneficial. “When compared to German trade, Dutch trade is oriented more globally and toward Europe,” said Andreas. “Germans mostly work as purchase importers who focus on one or some specific customers.

“We are a learning company, and we want to learn from Dutch importers so that we may continue to evolve as a sophisticated company,” he continued. “The new office will give us the opportunity to develop new relations and services.” In keeping with Don Limon's company culture, the office will be staffed by a small team of seasoned professionals.
“We want to create a unit of three or four people because the optimal size of a trading office is four or five traders – if you make it bigger, it gets too complicated,” Andreas noted. “We are searching for sales guys and quality people. Our main goal is to create a unit with trustworthy people to increase our market penetration in Benelux and elsewhere.”
