The king of bananas 40 years in the trade

40 years ago, René van Dommele, aged 18 and the youngest son, started working in his father's company Van Dommele in Roosendaal. He worked together with his father and two older brothers. Some years later the company moved to the new location at the IABC in Breda. René took up the leading role with success and directed the company.

In 1998, René teamed up with the family De Groot because of the changing banana market (license). He worked 18 years at De Groot Fresh Group, there he managed Van Dommele and contributed to various take-overs, fusions, and construction projects. René had the best success in bringing the banana business to a higher level. And he did great, hence the title King of Bananas! Nowadays we are a leading company in the banana business and we owe it all to René with his knowledge and commitment.

René has indicated that he did not want to celebrate this anniversary. Nevertheless, we thought it too special to just let it pass. So, we will congratulate him on this anniversary!
