Italy aims to launch orange export to China

After mutual negotiation, China and Italy have signed Agricutural Products Inspection and Quarantine Protocol in the beginning of 2016. However, China demands that a further analysis is needed to evaluate the risks of diseases and bugs.

In the future, if any pathogen or parasite is found out in blood oranges and red oranges that arrive in China from Italy, the goods will be rejected for entry or be destroyed if needed. Moreover, the product origin and the company in charge will no longer be admitted for any export business to China. More importantly, if bigger risk such as Ceratitis Capitata is identified, the whole export plan will be suspended.

It is known that Italy wishes to export its oranges during the harvest season between 2016 and 2017.
