China: Orange export to Indonesia

"Mid June, our laboratory obtained the approval of the Indonesia agricultural department, so the oranges from Quzhou now have access to Indonesia." This statement was released yesterday by the section chief of the food safety customs inspection, Hu Zhiming. Except for the laboratories of the province office, this is the only city level laboratory with approval of the Indonesian government. With 50% to 80% of the total export quantity, Indonesia is the most important export market of Quzhou's oranges.

Last year Indonesia issued a document concerning food safety of import and export food articles. The document went in effect on February 17 this year. Any of the imported fruits or vegetables need to come from a country that has obtained the approval of the Indonesia food safety system. Otherwise they have to carry a test report from a laboratory that obtained the approval of the Indonesia food safety system. If not, any article will be detained and thoroughly inspected at customs.
