First fresh food congress Storecheck

"Fresh food sections drives the growth of supermarkets"

Fresh food is a very importantpart of a supermarket, it drives the growth of supermarkets. For the consumers,fresh food makes a difference. However, to achieve good fresh food sections isa complex process. A lot can be gained by further professionalizing thecollaboration between producers and retailers. The first fresh food congress,organized by Storecheck, was aimed at all fresh food sections of supermarkets.

Storecheckorganised on the 21 June its first event, aimed at food retailers andFMCG-professionals (Fast Moving Consumer Goods). About 65 people were present.Piet Salens, the publisher of Storecheck indicates that Storecheck publishes amagazine, as well as a newsletter. This newsletter is published 45 times a yearand shows an overview of the (inter)national news in the food sector. “Becausefresh food is an import subject for retailers, we decided to organize acongress on this subject.”

There were six guest speakers present, includingJan Prinsen (Belgian Fresh Fruit Institute), Patrick Verhamme (Delhaize), Jande Boeck (GFK Belgium), Jim Mangelschots (Roamler), Emmanuel Maroy (HamalSignature), and Stefaan Delahaye (La Lorraine). ‘What drives a fresh foodshopper’, creating an inspiring experience of the fruit and veg section, the freshfood strategy of Delhaize, and even bread, spreads, and meat were discussed.

In the next few days the presentations of thevarious speakers will be published.
