A team of inspectors from the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of China has travelled to Murcia to verify on-site that the Spanish industry meets all the requirements that were agreed on in the protocol for stonefruit export to the Chinese market that was recently signed.
Yesterday and today, the inspectors visited the fields and facilities of two of the largest companies of stonefruit from Murcia that are already registered to export to China, such as Frutas Esther and Grupo El Ciruelo. There, the Chinese delegation, which was accompanied at all times by the Association of Producers and Exporters of Fruits and other agricultural products (APOEXPA), was attended by the technicians and managers in charge of the companies.
"We hope to make the first shipments of fruit before the end of this season, once China has verified that our sector complies with all the phytosanitary safety and traceability protocols. It is important for the sector that we have a first contact with the Chinese market this year," said Joaquin Gomez, president of Apoexpa.
Once the inspections in Murcia are completed, the Chinese delegation will travel to Aragon to continue their inspection tasks.
