The president of the Government of Galicia, Alberto Núñez Feijoo, has presented the Food Award 2016 to the Galician company Kiwi Atlántico in the category of Best Business Career. The award was presented in the framework of the conference Galicia Food Forum, organised by the Food Cluster of Galicia (CLUSAGA).
The event was attended by the president of the company, José Pérez Expósito, the manager, José Carlos Vila, and the board member Paulo Estévez. For the management of Kiwi Atlántico, this award is "a great pride." "When we started working with this product, 28 years ago, nobody knew it. It was difficult to predict where the project would lead us. Today, we are the largest marketer of kiwifruit in Spain; that we are awarded for this trajectory makes us happy," they say.
Food Forum 2016
This year, the Food Forum has been focused on identifying strategies and learning about the future challenges of the Galician food sector up until 2020. The partners are currently companies, universities, technology and research centres, as well as business associations and other entities.
28 years of experience
Kiwi Atlántico, S.A. was founded in 1988 as a union of about 30 kiwifruit growers of Galicia and Asturias and it currently has more than 70 partners and 20 associated producers, bringing together farms of various sizes. It is an association formed solely by growers with plenty of experience in agriculture and devoted to producing for personal use.
This union of efforts and ideas has made it possible to market the fruit jointly, in a uniform manner and with a common goal of delivering only the best quality.
