UK one of the most important export markets for Peru
He continues: “Peru has become a powerhouse for fruits and vegetables. Peru already produces and exports about 2 to 3 times more than a few years ago. For example asparagus, avocados and grapes are good examples that contributes to this growth. Since Peru has very special conditions with all different types of climates in one country, such as tropical desserts in the coasts, highland and the Amazon forest. This results in good soil that benefits the production of practically everything.”
“Presently fruits and vegetables covers approximately 75% of the total Peruvian exports to the UK market. Especially for asparagus, mangos and bananas. However, some products such as avocado, blueberries, white seedless grapes and pomegranates have strongly grown over the last three years,” adds Jaime.
The exporters represented themselves with a booth from the Trade and Investment Office of Peru. “A show like the London Produce is used to create a platform for the Peruvian export. The key targets for this show are the food service, independent retailers and supermarket chains. It's a small, but very interesting and straightforward event,” concludes Jaime.
