Alice - a new brand for Bellassai

Alice is the new Bellassai brand.
Lorenzo Bellassai (in the photo below) from Giovanni Bellassai import-export in Mazzarrone (CT) decided to make available (albeit only temporarily) a new brand for extra-quality grapes to celebrate the birth of his daughter as well as the 70th birthday of the "big boss", his father Giovanni.

"We launched the Alice brand on June 6th and it is going well, also because it represents our best grapes. Even though the market is suffering due to the rain and the low prices of other types of fruit, we are managing well due to the extra-quality produce."

"With respect to the beginning of the campaign, the usual drop in prices meant that national distribution chains and a few foreign importers started to get interested in our grapes. At the moment we harvest around 50-60 tons of fruit a day of the Victoria and Black Magic varieties. We also have some Red Magic, which we started harvesting in early June and will continue until mid July, then it will be the turn of the Red Globe variety. Sales are good in Central and Eastern Europe."

"Quantities and destinations are interesting and, even though prices are not as high as last year, things are fine. The season had started later in 2015 and produce from overseas ended earlier, so quotations were constant until June 20th-25th. Next week we will start packing the fruit in 500 g and 1 kg punnets under supermarket brands and we will start harvesting Palieri grapes."

According to Lorenzo, retailer chains started buying the Victoria and Black Magic varieties also due to their sugar content, i.e. 15-16° Brix. "We will start shipping to the Arab Emirates from week 26."

Despite this news, the objectives of the company remain the same. "It is a small family business that works with passion and commitment. Reliability is our key word, both towards suppliers and customers/buyers."
