Gino Peviani:

“High quality grapes for European supermarkets”

Italian fruit exporter Peviani is active in Italian grapes from July until the end of the year, but does not just focus on local cultivation. “We are currently in the Egyptian grapes, but we follow the entire grape season, overseas as well, so that we can supply our retail customers with grapes year-round,” owner Gino Peviani said during the London Produce Show.

Besides grapes, Peviani is specialised in watermelons and many other vegetables. “Through the years watermelons switched from seeded to seedless and smaller sizes which are easy to consume and taste good. We are also staking much on new grape varieties, that we grow in Apulia, emphasising seedless grapes. But a condition of the new varieties is that they are not only attractive to consumers, but that they have less impact on the environment and they grow more naturally and in a sustainable way."

Peviani is mainly focused on the British, Swiss and Scandinavian supermarkets, in addition to the local market. “Spain produces during the same period and is our largest competitor and that keeps us always reactive and focused on improving. Through the years we have fortunately built good relationships with our retail customers. And there is only one way to continue that, and that is with quality.innovation and services!”
