Peru: Los Angeles Company exports organic bananas to the Netherlands for the first time

Los Angeles Company, a Peruvian business, will start exporting organic bananas grown by 14 producers from Piura to the Netherlands, thanks to the contacts provided by the Commercial Office (OCEX) of Peru in Rotterdam.

This will be the first shipment of organic bananas to the Netherlands. The shipment, which is valued at 4 million dollars, will be sent to major Dutch companies that provide bananas to large local and European supermarket chains, such as Superunie, Coop Supermarkt, Edeka, and Carrefour.

OCEX, which is part of the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism Office (MINCETUR), conducted an analysis of the characteristics of the Dutch market before providing exporters with a list of potential customers.

Pertinent information
Last year, Peru exported more than $40 million dollars in organic bananas to the Netherlands, which demonstrates there is a growing demand for this fruit in this important European market.

The Dutch market has great potential for producers and exporters of organic bananas, the third most exported Peruvian product.
