Valleyfresh launches operations in India and Saudi Arabian markets

"Ongoing commitment to deliver on-the-ground support"

Valleyfresh will officially have feet on the ground in two new global regions; the large scale produce importer/exporter will open operational offices in India (servicing the entire Indian Subcontinent) and Saudi Arabia (servicing the Middle East Region).

According to Doug Hammonds, Director of Export at Valleyfresh, one of the main motivations to make this move has been that “the situation in a number of surrounding Gulf countries is getting tougher, and we think tightening credit in these markets will cause increases to the challenges faced by exporters in the next few years.”

The Middle East market has, in fact, been an important region for Valleyfresh Australia for a long time; even more so since the launch of Valleyfresh South Africa in 2014 and its South American expansions a year earlier. “We have valued and established direct relationships in the region and will continue to support the existing arrangements. The new office will provide a strong scope to develop additional relationships and broaden our client engagement, whilst offering a hands-on approach in managing credit risk,” states Hammonds.

In Saudi Arabia, Valleyfresh has brought in Naseem Azam. Formerly of Abbar & Zainy Cold Stores, Naseem has broad experience including air freight, shipping and local purchase for the Middle East market. He has also held roles for global sales and operations.

As for the Indian office, it will be headed by Gurdip Singh, who has more than 18 years of experience in Fresh Produce, including a period representing the Washington Apple Commission in the Indian subcontinent, and who already has an active involvement with key distributors. The goal will be to maximize sales and “get prompt, detailed and accurate in-market feedback,” affirms Hammonds. “To date, the response from established importers has been very positive.”

“This launch supports our ongoing commitment to customers to deliver on-the-ground support,” he states. “Not only will this help us to better service each of these regions locally, but also deliver stronger opportunities to supply them from our major export bases in A-NZ, USA, South America, and South Africa.”

Valleyfresh is a global produce distributor and packer with specialist expertise in import and export programs. Our vision is to be recognized as a global leader in the supply of fresh fruit and vegetables. Valleyfresh form a part of the Freshmax Group.
