Spain: Tomasol joins Anecoop

The incorporation of the Agrarian Transformation Society Tomasol, founded in 1992, will improve Anecoop's position in Andalusia and allow for greater commercial strength to boost the activities of growers, producers and marketers of horticultural products in the international market.

Tomasol, which currently has nine members, owns 200 hectares of arable land and a 2,500 square metre warehouse with capacity to handle 300,000 kilos of vegetables daily. Although it is a renowned tomato grower in the area of Almeria, it stands out for its watermelon production, with 10,000 tonnes per year, as well as for its cauliflowers, with a production of three million pieces per year, courgettes, peas and beans. Besides being Global GAP, BRC and IFS certified, it has highly specialised staff in the handling and quality control of watermelons.

The President of Tomasol, Pascual Soler González, expressed his satisfaction with the decision. "Both Tomasol and Anecoop can boost their growth with this move; our society can benefit from Anecoop's powerful structure in the international market and its interaction with distributors, and we can contribute with our product diversity and commercial capacity."

Meanwhile, the president of Anecoop, Alejandro Monzón, has given his welcome to Tomasol's management and expressed his satisfaction "for sharing a cooperative and agro-business project like ours." He added that "we are encouraging them to continue the positive trend set in recent years to make it possible for us to grow together and give a boost to the sector."
