Zerya certifications granted in Portugal by Special Fruit

The company SUNSHINE FRUITS LDA., based in the Portuguese town of Tavira, has become the first to receive the ZERYA certification in Portugal. It will receive it for its raspberry production in the framework of the certifications program launched by the Belgian group Special Fruit (www.specialfrut.be), which the Portuguese producers belong to with the exclusive variety Kwanza.

Along with them, the Almonte-based strawberry producer SAT Algaida and Special Fruit Producciones will also receive the ZERYA certification. In the case of strawberries, the exclusive variety Calinda will be the one certified. They come to join the Bonafru cooperative, which already holds the ZERYA certificate since the previous campaign and which also produces the variety Calinda. The four companies make up the first set of producers through which the Belgian multinational has started supplying certified produce.

These three new certificates will be awarded by the certification body KIWA and, to celebrate it, Special Fruit has organised a ceremony, right on the Spanish-Portuguese border, on 20 May at 18.00 in the National Parador of Ayamonte. The ceremony will be attended by the authorities of the municipalities where the certified farms are located, as well as by other provincial authorities related to agriculture, representatives of Freshuelva and of several other companies and industry partners.

ZERYA congratulated all producers receiving their new certifications and stated to feel honoured and proud of being able to take part in the development, continuous improvement and commitment to consumers and the environment of these companies.
