Juan Carlos Urteaga Fiol, the manager of the H2Olmos Development dealership, stated that, according to estimates, by the end of this year there will be more than 400 hectares of table grape crops in the area of influence of Project Olmos, a project to plant 20,000 hectares with various products in an area located in Lambayeque.
Urteaga Fiol also highlighted how, in only two years of operation, agribusinesses are consolidating the Project Olmos as a new agricultural export hub in the north.
He said that the first harvests of table grapes had already taken place with good results for investors and that they estimated they would make the second shipment of this product to the United States, China, and Europe between October and November.
"This is an important year for the consolidation of Olmos. We estimate there are about 1,000 hectares of blueberry crops, about 4,000 hectares of avocado, mango, passion fruit, lemon, onion, paprika and piquillo peppers, among other crops", said the specialist.
Urteaga Fiol spoke during an event in Piura, where domestic producers of table grapes, operators of logistics and international experts from various countries discussed the situation for this product in the international market, and spoke about production in Italy, the second largest producer of table grapes in the world, and the benefits of this product in the coastal valleys.
