Limited supply of imported Taiwan mango leads to high price in mainland China

Summer is the best season for Taiwan mango. In the beginning of May, as this years first batch of Taiwan mango passed the inspections and quarantines in Xiamen Port, its sales season starts to unveil.

Looking back to 2015, the overall imported mango to Mainland China reached over 6,825.8 tons, among which imported Taiwan mango volume reached 4,694 tons. And these volumes accounted for 45% of Taiwan's total mango exports.

However, this year Taiwan mango production is not optimistic. Since last year, Taiwan suffered not only a warm and rainy winter season, but also cold wave seasons, blowing wind and heavy rain this year. As a consequence, the mango's growth period is disrupted, leading to an unsatisfactory bloom and fruit situation. It is expected that the Taiwan mango production this year will be less than half of last year. The lower supply volume to mainland China will possibly lead to a higher price position.
