California Prunes cooks up a storm with Great British Chefs

California Prunes announces a collaboration with Great British Chefs, the fastest growing food website in the UK and the go-to destination for food lovers in search of recipe inspiration. The website, which receives 1.1 million visitors per month provides direct access to some of the greatest chefs in the world, who are cooking in their UK restaurants every day, delivering spectacular food commensurate with their professional status.

Great British Chefs has teamed up with California Prunes to develop a collection of culinary creations featuring the world’s highest quality prunes, working with a number of chefs and food bloggers who have cooked up a range of sweet and savoury dishes for spring / summer. The working relationship with Great British Chefs represents a further initiative designed to drive enhanced awareness of the massive potential of California Prunes as a premium ingredient for culinary professionals. It also encourages consumers to consider prunes in a new guise, as a highly versatile and convenient store cupboard item, ideally placed to feature in a broad selection of sweet and savoury recipes.

The first batch of recipes have been developed by Pascal Aussignac (Michelin-starred chef associated with a host of French restaurants including Club Gascon) and Robert Ortiz (Peruvian food connoisseur and Executive Chef at the Michelin-starred restaurant Lima London and Lima Floral).

Commenting on the partnership, Esther Ritson-Elliott, European Marketing Manager for the California Prune Board (Europe) says, “The promotion of California Prunes as a superior culinary ingredient represents an important strand of our current marketing strategy. As well as the legendary flavour and outstanding quality associated with our product, there are clear commercial advantages which support the rationale for incorporating California Prunes into a myriad of sweet and savoury dishes. In addition to the convenience of an extended shelf life and year round availability, we are keen for chefs – and consumers – to appreciate the proven benefits of deploying prunes to reduce the sugar and fat content in a given recipe without any compromise on the overall taste experience. This is particularly apposite given current government guidelines suggesting a reduction in the amount of refined sugar which is added to food”.
