Stand out among Spanish tomato shippers

Looking to stand out among fellow tomato shippers in Spain, JMF Partenariat, a European supplier of fresh produce, is spicing up its tomato offerings. The tomato varieties were debuted in Spain this season, and they will be exported in coming years if current trials go well.

“We wanted to be different from other companies that just do traditional tomatoes,” said Gregory Struyve from JMF Partenariat. “This is a new production of old varieties specifically for Spain, and I think they open up new markets for us.”

Grown on seven hectares in the south of Spain, the varieties fill niches within the Spanish market. One variety is traditionally used in Catalunya, either served on bread or incorporated into soups. The other, a Raf tomato, is well known in Almeria. Both are high quality varieties that Gregory believes will do well in Spain and the rest of Europe.

“It's a new production of tasty tomatoes,” he said. “It's a lot of work, but the quality is very high.”
