Sweet greenhouse treat

Mucci Farms showed off its Smuccies, line of greenhouse-grown strawberries at this year's CPMA conference in April.

"Aesthetically, they're really beautiful," noted Emily Murracas of Mucci Farms. "They're grown in a controlled environment, so they look perfect." Like the rest of Mucci Farms' produce, Smuccies, sweet strawberries are grown in the company's Ontario greenhouse facility, which is currently being expanded to 6.5 hectares (16 acres).

"The greenhouse strawberries are also exceptionally flavourful and sweet", which is another reason why Murracas believes Smuccies will be a hit with consumers.

"Brix levels are at about 9, so they're really sweet and consumers will love the fact that they will be available all year long. A great addition to salad and dessert recipes."

Awarded the Freggie Approved Award at CPMA. "Smuccies are a great healthy on-the-go snack option for kids and adults alike."
