Starting in season, 2016-2017, Camposol from Murcia, Spain will join together with the Unica Group.

Through the merger, the number of members under Unica's flag will be increased to ten cooperatives from Almeria, Granada and Murcia. Camposol, based in El Ejido, brings 20 million kilos of vegetables to the market, mainly bell peppers. Unica Group expects in the coming year to bring 270 million kilos of fruit and vegetables to the market, thanks to the input of Camposol.

The Unica Group was founded in 2009 by a few cooperatives in Almeria and every year one or more cooperatives have joined.

Currently there are 1,750 growers affiliated to the cooperatives members of Unica Group, with two thousand hectares of covered cultivation and 700 hectares open field. Germany, UK, France, Denmark, Austria and Poland are the main export destinations for Unica.

Unica Group is itself engaged in a merger with the much larger cooperative Grupo AN from Navarra and this is expected to be agreed before the start of the new season, according to the chairman of Grupo AN.
