California grower expands Salinas cooling facility

In an effort to continue to grow its commitment to providing quality produce and unparalleled service to its customers and key partners, D’Arrigo Bros. Co., of CA announced the completion of its 52,000 sq. ft. expansion of the cooling facility in Salinas, CA. With the addition, this state of the art 152,000 sq. ft. facility will not only allow D’Arrigo to better serve their partners today, but it also offers the company the opportunity to plan for the future.

“This expansion not only allows us to ship greater volumes of our fresh fruits and vegetables but also enables us the opportunity to strategically align with our partners by offering consolidation, cross-dock and commercial cooling programs,” said Claudia Pizarro-Villalobos, Marketing and Culinary Manager.

Due to the expansion D’Arrigo has created 50 full time job positions within their receiving, cooling and shipping areas. The cooler expansion includes 15 additional loading bays (total of 45 loading bays), 50 additional parking spaces for line trucks (total of 150 spaces) and 5 new state of the art Modular Automated Cooling System (MACS) units. D’Arrigo has a campus wide security system with loading bay security, revamped LED lighting, a trucker’s lounge, a certified scale, energy efficient technologies and even a pet relief area.

“The company’s investment represents our on-going commitment to provide unparalleled service levels to our customers and partners. Our goal is to enhance our service while meeting the increasing demands of our customers and strategic partners,” said Matt Amaral, Director of Business Development.

In addition to the expansion, the company also increased the capacity of storage within the existing cooler by adding flow through and drive thru racks. “With the addition of the flow through and drive thru racks we have increased storage in our cooler by 35%,” said Mark Houle, Operations Manager.
