PMA Fresh Connections Mexico

Produce Marketing Association’s (PMA) Fresh Connections: Mexico enables produce industry professionals, from across the globe and the supply chain, to learn and network. Attendees will connect with other industry members and learn about the latest industry products during the exposition. Education sessions will offer insight on prime topics that affect Mexico, as well as the global fresh produce industry. The event will take place May 11-12, 2016, in León, Guanajuato, Mexico.

“It’s important for our industry to take advantage of events such as Fresh Connections: Mexico,” says Ines Masallach, Marketing Director, Serv. De Merc Imalinx and PMA Mexico Country Council chairman. “Whether networking to build new business relationships or learning from international experts on key issues and new ideas, those who attend will be sure to gain the proper resources to grow and be successful in this industry.”

During Beating the Odds: Growing Sales in a Challenging Market, successful company representatives will share strategies on how to increase revenue and how to participate in campaigns such as eat brighter!™ to increase fresh fruit and vegetable consumption. “I am grateful to have the opportunity to speak at Fresh Connections: Mexico this year,” says Fabian Ghirardelly, country manager of Kantar World Panel. Ghirardelly is a global expert in shoppers’ behavior with key insights on the Mexican consumer. “I believe attendees will leave this session with a strong understanding of the Mexican market and Mexican consumers’ purchasing habits to generate their own strategies to focus on every market and improve their businesses.”

PMA’s Chief Science and Technology Officer Bob Whitaker will describe the latest trends in food safety and technology—including the impact of the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) regulations and how they will affect the export of fruits and vegetables to the U.S. — during Science, Technology & Food Safety: What You Need to Know.

“The changes FSMA is making will affect how companies work together to move their products in the global marketplace,” says Whitaker. “It's essential that every company doing business with the United States understands FSMA so they can avoid the pitfalls that will result if they are not complying with the new regulations.”
Other education topics include:

• Corporate Responsibility, Consumer Demand & Your Bottom Line: Social responsibility has a large influence on global consumers’ purchasing habits. This session will take a look at factors driving their purchases and how businesses can use this knowledge to benefit their reputation.

• Better Process, Stronger Profits: Optimizing Your Supply Chain: Industry experts will share their experiences on how to overcome the challenges of running an efficient supply chain to boost profits and satisfy customers.

• Strategies for Securing Private Equity Investment: Those who desire investment funding for their businesses will benefit from this session, which explains what private equity funding can do for businesses and what investors are looking for.
In addition, a business roundtable will allow buyers to connect one-on-one with suppliers, and an optional tour will visit two facilities in the Guanajuato area to explore Mexico’s fresh produce marketplace. Stops will be made at a tomato greenhouse and packing operation and a fresh-cut salad processing facility.
