Mexico: Michoacan to produce over 70,000 tons of mangos

The Secretary for Rural Development and Agriculture, Israel Tentory Garcia, said there were no risks to export mangos this season.

In an interview, the official assured that the agency had delivered the aid to start spraying crops that might have a pest in a timely manner.

Tentory Garcia stated that there were no delays in the phytosanitary processes needed so that the fruit could enter international markets, mainly the United States.

The Secretary of Rural Development said that Michoacan could produce more than 70,000 tons of mango this season, 40 percent of which could be exported to international markets.

According to the state official, the SEDRUA worked with municipal authorities so that thousands of hectares had adequate phytosanitary controls. As a result, he said, the production would not be affected by any pest.
