35 tons of Philippine bananas destroyed in Shenzhen Port

On March 27, the Philippine government announced that the Chinese Customs in the Shenzhen Port destroyed 35 tons of Philippine bananas, the main reason is because these bananas have had an excessive use of pesticides. According to the Philippine government, the incident will not affect Sino-Philippine trade relations.

Over 3,000 boxes of bananas were exported from the Philippines to China, and during the entry inspection in the Shenzhen Yantian Port, excessive carbendazim was found in these bananas. To be more specific, these carbendazim reached 0.199mg / Kg, which exceeded the "maximum residue limits for pesticides in food standards" of 0.1mg / Kg. therefore these bananas are destroyed and landfilled under the authority of the inspection and quarantine staff. According to the report, these Philippine bananas are worth 33,000 US dollars, which is not considered a large trade among Sino-Philippine import export business.
