The old wholesale market at the Ulmenstraße 275 in Düsseldorf
“The statements of the mayor and the city of Düsseldorf was a great relief for us and our wholesalers,” states Peter Réne Hecker chairman of the fresh food market guild Düsseldorf, “This statement evoked many positive reactions from our companies and customers." And it gives the wholesalers at the Ulmenstraße a positive perspective of the future.
“Now we feel more secure and we can plan for the future,” continues Hecker, “Plans are made to improve the wholesale trade in Düsseldorf and expand it in the future.” First some of the market halls will be demolished and then rebuilt. “All affected fruit and vegetable companies now moved to their new location,” says Hecker happily.
The total concept for the future proof market is a cooperation between the city of Düsseldorf, the local authorities and the guild and its traders. “We are very optimistic about the future,” states the chairman of the fresh food market guild, "All parties will benefit from the new situation. The taskforce, in which all the relevant parties are represented, meets regularly. The idea is to take successful model markets as an example and integrate those ideas in our plans.”
