The management is handled by Peter Stuurman, who used to work at and owned various other international expedition/freighting companies, which were sold in 2005. As of 2016, Karel Lukassen is his right hand, and administration is headed by Bas Stuurman, Peter's son. Both are familiar faces in the international world of refrigerated and frozen transport, and both can boast dozens of years of experience in this sector. Although Peter has already reached the age of retirement, he started this adventure again in 2014 for the former owner.
4 Mex Logistics mainly works for French and Italian clients. "We can still achieve some margins here," Peter explains. "We make use of a large number of transporters from the EU countries looking for shipments from these countries. Our current office, which is more or less with its feet in the Hollandsche IJssel river, is spacious, light and modern, with the pleasant bonus that we see inland vessels go by all day long."
"There are quite a few permanent charters riding around with refrigerated trailers as well now, suitable for transport of plants and flowers, or that have a double load floors or dual evaporators, so there's a wide range of transport options available. In the long run we want to expand a bit further when it comes to arranging shipments from France, Italy and perhaps Scandinavia. Therefore we will need to look for independent freighters with a lot of experience in these countries," Peter concludes.
