"There continues to be a good demand for avocados with an increasing consumption whilst the production isn't rising as fast. It is becoming increasingly important to have direct access to the product, where Halls has the advantage of being the grower of having an intensive collaboration with the growers," continues Arjan, who represents the Dutch sales office of the South African exotic producer Halls together with Ate Kalsbeek.
The product assortment of Halls is extending further and further. "The time of Halls only being on the market between April and September is behind us," says Ate. "We will still receive two weeks of arrivals of lychees from South Africa. Luckily we have been able to keep the stock fresh and define ourselves with the better quality. We also carry Chinese blueberries, of which the production is this week and next week. The quality of the blue berries is very good. The sales of ripened Kent mangos from Peru also took a huge flight this month."
During the Fruit Logistica Halls will be present again with a stall (hall 7.2C - B-04). "At the fair we mainly want to convey the message that we are a year round grower and supplier of mangos and avocados. Both products are also offered Ready-to-Eat, in which the emphasis is on supplying a constant quality," concludes Ate.
