Organic produce commodities have never been hotter or more accessible to supermarket shoppers, so now is the time for retailers to ramp up their selection of organic specialties.
Organic young coconuts are the latest addition to Frieda's Specialty Produce's long-running organic offerings. With the focus on healthy New Year eating and whole, natural foods, Frieda's sees an increase in consumer demand for these tropical specialties, especially for organically grown young coconuts.
"Young coconuts have always been a good seller for us," said Alex Jackson, Frieda's Senior Account Manager and Organic Product Manager. "Knowing that the typical organic shopper is health- and trend-conscious, we've been working to develop an organic supply source to meet the demand.
"During the past few years, we have developed many sources of organic specialty items: from the trending organic Vaniglia orange (a specialty low-acid variety) and the beautiful Moro blood orange, to produce department staples like organic ginger, fennel, and shallots. We'd like people to think of Frieda's as a one-stop shop for retailers' organic specialty produce supply," added Jackson.
